PERFECTION IN A CHIP. i wish they were organic, but i will literally POISON myself for these. alas, i have yet to find them here in california, so i may have to resort to mail ordering them. they have no peers, no chip alike in dignity.

MAKING: fried rice with red cabbage, carrots, spinach & scrambled eggs

LISTENING: judy collins, in my life

you can probably find this gem for $1-$5 at your local used record store. i can’t stress how worthwhile it is, full of amazing covers (leonard cohen, the beatles, randy newman, bob dylan, mimi & richard farina) and show tunes from brecht. she even uses the phrase “the sons of the ass licking dying regime” at one point. it’s deliciously jarring, every time i hear it. also, I JUST WANT TO JOIN HER IN THIS PERFECT/WEIRD SPOT. so inviting!
MAKING: black bean & cheese taquitos, homegrown greens, salsa

LISTENING: the band, the band

MAKING: a plain omelette, pomegranate seeds & leftover rosemary roasted potatoes

LISTENING: they might be giants, flood

MAKING: “meat” sauce over egg pappardelle pasta

a quick and guilt-free sauce! i am hooked on fake meat crumbles!
LISTENING: the smiths, strangeways, here we come

it’s hard not to like an album that has a comma in the title, especially when moz is involved.
MAKING: leftover maple glazed bacon/sweet onion/brussels sprouts & sourdough toast

the charlie sheen of bruschetta. boo ya!
LISTENING: nirvana, in utero

dear kurt cobain: you should have just bought an island far, far away. love, ash
MAKING: maple glazed bacon/sweet onion/brussels sprouts over polenta

a greasy, sweet/salty, bacony-delicious hot mess over corn cakes? yes please!
LISTENING: the breeders, last splash

i didn’t own this record as a youth, even though i loved loved loved the hit single. WHAT A FOOL I WAS. i got into veruca salt instead. WRONG FEMALE-FRONTED, HARMONY-BASED BAND. jesus, mary and joseph, i was way off.
MAKING: angel hair pasta with the holy trinity (butter/salt/pepper) & raw carrots

LISTENING: camper van beethoven, camper van beethoven

MAKING: vegetable dumplings (WHICH CAME OUT SO BAD) & edamame
